FAQ

Heavy Haul — Common Questions

Clear answers to the questions shippers and equipment dealers ask most.

Loads exceeding 80,000 lbs gross vehicle weight — or exceeding 8.5 ft wide, 13.5 ft tall, or 53 ft long — are generally classified as oversize or overweight and require state permits. Thresholds vary by state. Our team handles all permit applications for you.
We use RGN (Removable Gooseneck), Step-Deck (Drop Deck), and Flatbed trailers depending on the load dimensions and weight. RGN trailers are used for the tallest equipment. Step-decks handle loads up to about 10 ft tall. Flatbeds are ideal for wide, flat cargo within legal height limits.
Yes — permits and pilot car coordination are fully handled in-house. We manage all state permit applications, route surveys, and escort vehicle arrangements so your load moves legally and on schedule.
We recommend at least 5–7 business days for standard oversized loads. Superloads or multi-state permit routes may require 2–4 weeks. Rush moves are possible — call us at (631) 898-4248 to discuss your timeline.
RGN stands for Removable Gooseneck. The front section of the trailer detaches and lowers to the ground, creating a drive-on ramp. This lets heavy equipment like excavators and cranes load under their own power — no separate loading equipment needed. RGN trailers can handle loads up to 150,000+ lbs with the right tractor.
We cover all 48 contiguous states. We have active carrier relationships across major heavy haul corridors including Texas, California, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, and throughout the Southeast and Midwest.
